Princess Tamina’s city of origin was Alamut, which was actually a mountain fortress located in Persia.  Jordan Mechner, the inventor of Prince of Persia came up the idea of Tamina’s name from two characters, Princess Pamina and Prince Tamino from one of his favorite operas, Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
